ACTA in a Nutshell –
What is ACTA? ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.
Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”
What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.
Essential ACTA Resources -
Say NO to ACTA. It is essential to spread awareness and get the word out on ACTA.

Instead of sleeping, last night I dreamed on the internet. I dreamed of fashions I want to rock. Image 1 are the bangs I want to wear. They don't involve a hair cut, but they do involve making or buying kinda bizarre shaped hair rat because my forehead is so wide. Image two is a vintage house dress pattern for a dress that I want two of. I would like one in dark red or maybe black, and one in something bright and improbable: cerulean, peach or mint green.
And in a classic move for me, I also want to glide about in pseudo-Victorian looks like picture number 3, the Gibson Girl hairdo and to slim down and then corset into a swan bill shape like the elegant creature in number 4. While I'm at it, I want to continue growing my hair to impressive lengths then bind it up into styles that appear to be short. While I'm at it, I want my home to be full of curiosities and lush warm textures with just a sprinkling of the magic and steam. That last is just to make it fully impossible.
In an article I read a short while back, I ran across the recipe for garlic & kale soup. I can't sleep because of the tests tomorrow, so I'm making sure that Khor has a stash of good food set aside for when I'm too upset to cook over the weekend. The house smells just fantastic: the mushrooms and garlic browned up delectably.
The kale is soaking to get the ickies out while the garlic broth and wheat berries simmer. It'll be soup within an hour, and I have kale to spare. Maybe it is time to try the kale chips Tess is always talking about...
Sunday: Enrolled in Weigh and Win on a team with my hubby, sister and two best friends. Worked out on my glider-thingy for 20 minutes before I lost my breath. (I'm struggling against a rib/shoulder/nerve injury that impacts my breathing.)
Monday: Worked out on my buddy's Wii Fit for 30 minutes or so, though not in one stretch.
Tuesday: 30 minutes jogging in place, 20 minutes gentle waking outside. Decided I can't do outdoor walking/running until I've healed more. I'm scared I'll get stuck out in the boonies when I get to walking and I suddenly can't breathe.
Wednesday: Rest Day
Today: Strength Training. "The Ultimate at Home Exercise Program" 5 pound weights, 2 sets of 12. Two sets of 10 for the ab workout (slow crunches and leg lifts).
Friday: I intend to use the glider for 20 to 30 minutes before my MRI and CT scan. I can't workout afterward; the contrast material makes me queasy.
X-posted.
46. Acquire & store co-sleeper
I picked up a co-sleeper from a friend on Dec 29. It is a hand-me-down still in excellent condition. In a wave of mania a few nights back I assembled the fantastic thing and installed it beside our bed. It will need a riser 8 to 12 inches tall to get it up to a comfortable level beside the bed, but Khor's Dad will be able to handle that easily. After seeing the co-sleeper, I doubt we'll need a crib.
51. Acquire and Store: Six size adjustable diaper covers: Rumparoo covers, Flips, or homemade.
I have acquired two infant sized Rumparoo covers, one in tangerine and on in Whale Tail pattern.
100. Buy a D’vyne Wrytes 3 ring notebook: 2” binder, black leather, full bound cover with an embossed border.
With my Christmas and birthday money, I bought the notebook. The Notebook. The elegant handcrafted leather notebook that will house my Book of shadows. I got a notice that it shipped today. After at least five days of waiting, I'll have it within a week.
So, I was thinking about getting some pretty new under garments with my birthday money. I've been looking at the Soma store because they have such pretty things. I wouldn't dream of buying bras without trying them on first, but I thought I'd peek at the Soma site for ideas. I used their bra sizing method before getting started shopping and I'm flabbergasted. They say I'm a G-cup: golf, George, and also gigantic. I'm going to make the folks in the store confirm, and then I'm going to cry.
Tomorrow, though, I'm going to the damn doctor. My birthday gift from L'il Bro and his handsome 45 pound husky puppy seems to be a re-subluxated rib. I'm in a ton of pain and am having a really difficult time breathing. I get winded after about 10 step unless I'm moving at a less than practical speed and very very few positions are comfortable for longer than a few minutes. Getting a 45 pound dog launched at your chest twice in less than a minute actually shouldn't do this, but after the trauma of the car accident in February it would seem that things remain a bit squishy.
Then I think I'm going to start into a sorta rigorous PT regime for my rib, knee and shoulder, because I cannot cannot do this anymore.
Yesterday was a heck of a day in gravity, as I'm sure AJRBarton might attest. Thankfully, her encounter with our parking lot was a little easier than mine. I twisted my ankle but good, and come this morning not even an ice pack and a dose of ibuprofen could make walking more than 10 feet possible.
So instead of going to work (Gods, I suck.) I got snuggled in with some strange British TV and my to do list. My navy pea coat was missing a button, so I pulled all of the old ones (plain plastic) off and replaced them with pretty vintage-looking silver ones. I repaired the zipper on my $10 fat-jeans, making them $12 fat jeans. I darned more socks. (Tess, this is the link where I learned how. ) I've picked out the pattern for Blueberry's gift and gotten the materials together to patch the elbows of my University of Denver shirt. I did my December birthday shopping, except for Morgaynne's which requires further thought.
Now I'm struck with insomnia related to my thrice-damned shoulder, watching season 1 of Stargate SG-1 and finally getting some work done on LC's blanky. It was either that or embroider apricot-colored stars on a sage baby hat for the baby I'm still not pregnant with. I'm trying to avoid that kind of emotional-cheese-grater action.
